# Tool usage limits

> Lookup volume, cooldown, concurrency, organization capacity, and the one-credit override.

This page covers the limits for focused lookups in the Osintly web application. They apply to a **new** tool lookup; opening a result that has already been saved does not consume a lookup allowance. Search API capacity is separate—see [API plans & capacity](/api-reference/api-plans-capacity).

Limits use rolling five-minute, hourly, and 24-hour windows. The same operation can also have a cooldown and a cap on concurrent requests.

When a limit is reached, the interface tells you why and when to retry. Depending on your access level, it may also offer account creation or an appropriate plan upgrade.

## Organization capacity

Organizations use both an individual member limit and a shared workspace limit. This prevents one member from consuming all capacity while letting the organization benefit from its paid seats.

The shared five-minute, hourly, and daily volume limits equal the plan limit multiplied by the number of paid seats. Shared concurrency also scales with seats. Pro is capped at 8 concurrent lookups for the organization; Ultimate uses 3 per paid seat.

Both checks must pass for a new lookup. Organization capacity comes from the selected plan and paid seat count; there is no separate capacity pack.

## Continue with one credit

For a five-minute, hourly, or daily volume limit, an authenticated user with an available credit in the selected workspace may be offered **Use 1 credit**. This requires explicit confirmation and starts the lookup immediately. Personal credits can be used for this tool override without an active personal subscription. An organization needs an active subscription to use its shared credits.

* A credit override never bypasses a cooldown or a concurrency limit.
* In Personal, the credit comes from your personal balance.
* In an organization, the credit comes from the organization’s shared allowance.
* Osintly reserves the credit before contacting the upstream tool. If the lookup or result storage fails, that reservation is released rather than spent.

If no credit is available, wait for the indicated window to reset or choose an eligible upgrade. The server decides whether an override is available; changing the browser request cannot create one.

## Domain section lookups

Domain Intelligence can load additional sections after the initial `/all` lookup. Its split operations use a separate web-app limit, with 15 times the selected tier’s five-minute, hourly, and daily volume allowance, no cooldown, and at least 3 concurrent requests. The normal new-lookup limits above still apply when starting a new investigation.

## Good operating practice

* Reopen saved results instead of repeating the same lookup.
* Avoid launching the same operation concurrently from several tabs.
* In an organization, use **Organization → Usage** to review the shared allowance before a high-volume investigation.
* Use a focused lookup only for an observable you already know. Use the [Search page](/search-analysis/osint-search) for a full search in the web app. API clients can use the [Search API](/api-reference/introduction).
